Jarvis & Gómez at 'Wildwood Rock Extreme'
Brace yourself Australia, some of the best Extreme Enduro riders are coming your way to take on the '2014 Bulk Nutrient Wildwood Rock Extreme Enduro' in just five months time. Once again the king of Extreme Enduro, Graham Jarvis will come down under as he looks to win his third 'Wildwood Rock' crown and make it back to back wins this year.

2014 of course will be the first time the Aussie fans get to watch Jarvis tackle the rolling hills of Wildwood on a Husqvarna TE 300. Joining Jarvis will be his younger teammate, Spain’s Alfredo Gómez, who will also make his third appearance. Gómez, 24, finished second in 2012 to Australia’s 2013 World Junior Enduro Champion Matt Phillips and was runner up again last year to Jarvis. When www.ig-gatsch.at asked the young Spanish rider could he take the line honours in 2014, Gómez replied: “I really hope so… But these other riders are really fast. So victory will not come easy. But will see what happens.” Jarvis’s compatriot, 34-year old Paul Bolton, who is another ex-trails rider, is hoping to get out to Australia. As a privateer, Bolton said “it all depends on finances. I’m still trying to see if I can get out there.” Most recently Bolton has placed with a fifth in this years 'Red Bull Hare Scramble Erzbergrodeo', finishing ahead of seven times World outdoor Trials champion Dougie Lampkin.

The King of Extreme Enduro: Graham Jarvis will once again head down under. Can he make it 3 wins from 3 starts?

Eighteen years old, Wade Young from South Africa will also be a race starter come November. Young created history in 2012 when he became the youngest ever rider at the slender age of just sixteen when he claimed victory at the Roof of Africa. Young has also been victorious at this year’s 'King of the Hill Hard Enduro' beating Bolton by 3.200sec.
The top Aussie riders that are ready to lock horns with the international superstars that are worth while keeping your eye on will be Victorian Tim Coleman who finished fourth last year on a trials bike. Coleman is no stranger when it comes to navigating his way over huge rocks and so on, as he too comes from the world of trials. In April Coleman contested the opening round of this year’s FIM World Trials Championship at Mount Tarrengower in Victoria where he finished with a 13-14 result. “I cannot wait for this year’s event” said Coleman. “It's the one enduro event I would like to do really well at. I really wish there was more of these types of events. Australia is defiantly behind in the extreme endures. We have one a year as Europe has so many extreme events in the calendar.” Coleman will be riding for Beta Racing Australia on the 300RR 2 stroke machine.

Alfredo Gómez #2 and Matt Phillips #1 will be back again in 2014 in different colours.

Other Aussies include Chris Perry who finished fifth in last year’s event, Rob Nowak wrapping up seventh, Tom Mason who is a future star of Australian dirt bike racing. Mason wrapped up a sixth place finish. Another hot rising young star to watch out for is Nic Tomlinson. A regular front runner in the AORC (Australian Off-Road Championship) Peter Boyle who pilots for the Motorex KTM Off-Road Team will also have a crack in 2014. 2012 race winner Matt Phillips will also return to hills to try his hand yet again. Event Promoter Steven Braszell told www.ig-gatsch.at: “Wildwood 2014 has sure got the extreme world talking with the names that are showing interest in attending. It’s great to see the support from around the world from other promoters and riders that provide what is known as Extreme enduro. It is just really good to know that Wildwood is a great stepping stone for riders to progress their skills further from the young and up-coming riders that Australia has coming through the ranks. I see no reason why our Australian riders cannot beat these overseas riders and what a day it will be as to who and when.”

The '2014 Bulk Nutrient Wildwood Rock Extreme Enduro' will be held over 22nd-23rd of November with a new addition to the weekend which is the 'Golden Tyre Extreme Hill Climb'. (russell clovin)
